8'3" Assassin V

Very cool and hard-to-find vintage Gordie Surf Boards “Assassin V”, measuring 8'3".

This is a classic late-1960s transitional shape from the period when boards were rapidly evolving from traditional longboards into shorter, more maneuverable designs. The Assassin V model is known for its narrow pintail and pronounced V through the tail, and this one has an especially dramatic V that is easy to see in the photos.

The board retains its original Gordie / Assassin laminate and a beautiful period removable clear fin, likely Lexan/polycarbonate. The fin is in remarkably good condition considering its age and is one of the coolest features of the board.

The board shows plenty of honest vintage wear, including old repairs, discoloration, scratches and general patina. It is definitely not a pristine museum piece, but it has a ton of character and remains a very complete example of an important transitional-era surfboard. No buckles, delam, or structural issues.

Steve Boehne has documented that he shaped many of the Gordie Assassin boards produced during the 1968–69 period, although I have not found a signature or marking that would allow me to definitively attribute this particular board to him.

A great piece for a Gordie collector, vintage surfboard enthusiast, display, restoration project, or someone who appreciates early shortboard-era design.
