6'6" DK Surfboards Machete by DJ Kane
6'6" x 20 3/4 x 2 13/16
Zero dings. In great shape. Minimal pressures underfoot. Bottom is pristine.
From the shaper:
The Machete was originally designed on a shaping trip to Portugal as a step-up round tail version of a Swordfish. A couple years went by and I made another for a friend heading to chase waves in Nicaragua. Shortly after that I hand shaped myself a shorter fatter Machete and took it on a trip to Panama. After having a blast on it the whole trip I came back and had it scanned in to the computer. The bottom contours are very similar to the Swordfish with a slight vee under the front foot, going into a double concave in front of the fins, triple concave through the fins, and single out the tail. The Machete rides a lot more loose than the Swordfish due to the round tail adding a lot of curve to the outline in the last 16” of the board while still having that fun and fast down the line speed. This board can be ridden in knee high to well overhead waves and can be made as more of a grovel board or tuned up to be more of a fishy step-up style board depending on what your intentions are. Due to the thinly foiled out roundtail it also hangs on the wall and rides the barrel very well. I generally offer this board as a quad but unlike its fishy counterpart it is available as a 5 fin if you’d like the option to ride it as a thruster as well.
