Channel Islands Surfboards was founded by Al and Terry Merrick in Santa Barbara in 1969, and Al Merrick went on to become arguably the most influential surfboard shaper of all time, crafting boards for a who's-who of world champions and legends including Tom Curren, Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, Lisa Andersen, Shaun Tomson, Bobby Martinez, and more. The MTF designation stands for Merrick Twin Finner, a beloved model from the Channel Islands lineup during the 1990s that has developed a real following among vintage surfboard collectors and everyday surfers alike.

The shaper's dimensions written on the stringer read 6'2" x 19 3/4" x 2 3/4", making this a compact, versatile shortboard well suited to a range of conditions.
