Solid epoxy daily driver shortboard. A moderate-to-lower rocker profile, 5-fin setup, performance outline, pinched/foiled rails, and light single concave make this board very versatile. This board is essentially an off-brand Rocket-Wide from Channel Islands. Moderate-to-low rocker opens up the lower end of this board’s wave range, allowing waist high sessions to be an option as long as there is some juice behind it. The performance outline of the board leans into more shortboard oriented pocket surfing. It will hold in hollow conditions or through big carves since the swallow tail is relatively pulled-in, the rails are more pinched, and the board is thin at the tail due to the board’s foil. I found the sweet spot for this board is stomach to slightly overhead surf, preferring steeper faces over mushy waves. This board has traveled to Fiji and can get barreled over reef passes, but also excels in punchier San Diego beachbreaks. I would ride this board as a thruster for turn-oriented sessions, and throw a quad in for small barrel sessions or fast beachbreak walls. This board pleasantly surprised me for backside pocket surfing, where it excelled compared to the rest of my quiver.

Ding wise there is only one crack near the tail. I recently tried to throw a quick patch on it for a session, and it cracked again. So, it needs to be sanded off and re-done with some filler and an additional patch. Can do the work for an additional $50 which will cover my time and the additional epoxy resin I need to buy. Otherwise, a shop like Coconut Pete’s can turn this around in a day or so for a similar price. Minor pressure dings on deck where the front foot would go. Besides the tail crack and deck pressures, the board is clean.
