5'4" Lost Hydra

Great PU hybrid groveler / small wave board. A very low rocker profile, wide tail, straighter rail line, fuller rails, and deep single channel / rail bevel produces a lot of inherent speed. The board prefers a mushier wave. When surfing a flatter faced wave, the upper end of the board’s surfable wave range increases to about head high from shoulder high. The board can perform in steeper beach breaks around San Diego, but from my experience if the surf is more than shoulder higher the board gets tracky and has less bite on the wave face. This is likely due to the fuller rails and wider tail which allow the board to fly over flat/gutless sections of the wave. So, the sweet spot for this board is 1-3ft beach breaks or 1-4ft reefs/points. Since this board is a true groveler that emphasizes speed in gutless waves over performance through turns, I recommend pairing the board with a medium/large quad set. This will produce maximum drive, eliminate center fin drag, and overall make the board faster. I rode a set of Von Sol fins with the board, and it paired well. Ding wise there are a couple of repairs to note. The nose of the board has a significant repair, one of the rear quad fin boxes was repaired, some small patches were applied to both swallow tips on the tail, and there are minor pressure dings on the middle of the deck. Currently watertight.
